Dust Bowl Faeries
Dust Bowl Faeries
Hudson’s own Dust Bowl Faeries, a gothic chamber-folk outfit led by interdisciplinary artist Ryder Cooley, celebrates the pre-release of their Remix-EP, created with producer Floyd Fisher of upstatebrooklyn, upstairs at the club’s new Ballroom Stage.

In addition to performing new songs as well as material from the group’s eponymous debut, the group will premiere re-mixes and two new videos before they are officially released. Donations at the door will be used to help fund the EP and will include a pre-release CD of the remixes.

Dust Bowl Faeries is an ethereal dark-carnival folk ensemble. The unique compositions of Dust Bowl Faeries have roots in Gypsy and vaudeville music. Accordion, singing saw, ukulele, lapsteel guitar, bass, and percussion combine to create the Dust Bowl Faeries’ otherworldly sound. The band was founded by artist-musician Ryder Cooley in 2013. Ryder is accompanied by Karen Cole, JoAnn Stevelos and Aaron Martin. Hazel, a taxidermy ram, performs with the Dust Bowl Fairies as their mascot spirit animal.

The Dust Bowl Faeries released their debut album in March 2016 featuring a stunning array of guest musicians including Tommy Stinson (Replacements), Melora Creager (Rasputina), Cameron Melville, Luis Mojica, Fredo Viola, and Elric Walker. The original album was produced by music critic Seth Rogovoy. A selection of songs from the album will soon be released as a re-mix EP by producer Floyd Fisher of upstatebrooklyn.
