The Meditations
The Meditations
The Meditations were originally formed as a reggae vocal trio in Jamaica in 1974. The sang backing vocals on several Bob Marley recordings, including “Blackman Redemption” and “Rastaman Live Up,” and also can be heard on recordings by Jimmy Cliff and Gregory Isaacs.

By 1976, the Meditations scored with their own huge reggae hit, “Woman Is Like a Shadow.” They appeared at the legendary One Love Peace Concert in Kingston, Jamaica, in April 1978, famous for its unscripted bringing together of political rivals Michael Manley and Edward Seaga, who shook hands onstage during Bob Marley & the Wailers’ performance of “Jammin’.”

The group has continued recording and performing ever since, still featuring founding member Ansel Cridland, and still bringing those roots-reggae vibes to the stage night after night.
